Dreaming Back 3,000 Years: Where Ancient Herbs Meet the Present
Why I Write About Herbs
People are interested in herbs—but most don’t know where to start.
There is too much information, too many claims, and not enough clarity.
One source says an herb is a cure-all.
Another warns it should never be used.
Most people are left confused.
I write this blog to help people understand herbs in a practical, grounded way—what they do, how they’re traditionally used, and how they actually show up in real life.
What You’ll Find Here
This blog is educational and experience-based.
I focus on:
what specific herbs are known for
how they’re commonly used (especially in tea and food-grade forms)
what effects tend to appear over time
when caution is needed
I work directly with herbs—growing, drying, blending, and using them regularly.
What I share comes from hands-on experience, not trends.
Why Ancient Herbal Knowledge Is Still Useful
Ancient herbal systems, like those found in the Shennong Herbal Classic, were built around very practical questions:
Is this herb safe to use long-term?
What kind of support does it provide?
Is it meant for daily nourishment or short-term use?
These questions are still relevant today.
Modern herbal products often skip this context, which leads to misuse or unrealistic expectations.
Ancient frameworks help us use herbs with more intention and less guesswork.
How I Approach Herbal Education
I don’t believe herbs need to be dramatic to be effective.
Many herbs work slowly and gently, supporting the body over weeks or months.
This is especially true for food-grade herbs used in teas and everyday routines.
When something works fast, there is usually a reason—and often a tradeoff.
I believe people deserve to understand that tradeoff.
If something is outside my experience, I say so.
If an herb requires caution, I explain why.
Clarity builds trust.
Who This Blog Is For
This blog is for people who:
are curious about herbs but overwhelmed by conflicting advice
want practical explanations, not hype
prefer steady support over extreme protocols
are willing to observe their bodies over time
You don’t need prior knowledge.
Just curiosity and patience.
A Simple Promise
I won’t promise quick fixes.
I will explain herbs in plain language,
share real-world experience,
and help you decide what makes sense for your own body and lifestyle.
That’s the goal of this blog.
